NARM

(Neuro-Affective Relational Model)

What is NARM

The Neuro-Affective Relational Model (NARM) is a therapeutic approach designed to address complex trauma and its impact on emotional and relational functioning. NARM focuses on how early developmental experiences, particularly those involving attachment and relational trauma, shape an individual's nervous system, emotional responses, and sense of self.

This model emphasizes the connection between the brain, body, and emotions, and it integrates neuroscience with attachment theory to understand how trauma affects the nervous system and relationships. Unlike traditional trauma therapies that focus primarily on the trauma itself, NARM takes a relational and developmental perspective, working with clients to help them reconnect with their true selves, regulate emotions, and heal from past wounds.

NARM aims to restore a sense of agency, self-regulation, and healthy attachment patterns, allowing individuals to experience more fulfilling relationships with themselves and others. It is particularly effective in treating clients who have experienced developmental trauma, neglect, or early emotional wounding. The therapy works on a deep level, targeting both the emotional and physiological aspects of trauma, and encourages personal growth and healing.
